Lasting Powers of Attorney during the Coronavirus Pandemic
During this very uncertain time of lockdown and the Coronavirus pandemic we would strongly recommend that you have Lasting Powers of Attorney in place.
If you already have registered Lasting Powers of Attorney in place then they can be used by your Attorneys to help you out during the Coronavirus pandemic, unless you have chosen to restrict their use.
If you do not already have registered Lasting Powers of Attorney in place we would strongly recommend that you consider implementing them and we can prepare these documents for you without you needing to leave home.
Before a Lasting Power of Attorney can be used it must be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian. However, the timescales for registration are usually 8-10 weeks. We strongly recommend that you have Lasting Powers of Attorney in place. This is why we are currently offering a free Ordinary Power of Attorney when you instruct us to prepare a Lasting Power of Attorney for you. The Ordinary Power of Attorney will is a simple and efficient way of seeing you through to ensure someone can act on your behalf until your Lasting Power of Attorney is registered.
Please note that we do not recommend an Ordinary Power of Attorney as an alternative to a Lasting Power of Attorney.
If you wish to discuss this further with us please contact our Wills and Lasting Power of Attorney team on 0191 213 1010 or by email LPA@mckeagandco.com
Please note that our initial discussion is free of charge and we can set up a meeting to fully explain what is involved and the cost of putting the Lasting Power of Attorney into place.
