Case Handler – Full Time Position 

We are currently looking to recruit a Case Handler to work within our Personal Injury department.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out case handling duties as well as providing administrative support to other case handlers
  • Taking instructions from clients
  • Providing legal advice and assistance to clients.
  • Preparing claim documentation
  • Dealing with client enquiries
  • Undertaking legal research

The successful candidate will excel at client care, be professional at all times, is IT literate and attentive to detail, be able to follow set procedures and processes but with the ability and confidence to use own judgement where required. They will liaise with a variety of clients, medical professionals and other parties, thrive on being busy and adapt well to new challenges.

This is a permanent, full time position at our Gosforth office working from the hours of 9:00am – 5:15pm Monday to Thursday; and 9:00am to 5:00pm Friday.

Clinical Negligence Secretary – Full Time Position

The Clinical Negligence Department at McKeag & Co have a vacancy for an experienced Legal Secretary. This role is a full time position working from the hours of 9.00am – 5.15pm Monday to Thursday; and 9.00am to 5.00pm Friday; and involves all aspects of secretarial support, including the following:

  • providing efficient and effective support to Partners / Fee Earners
  • using digital dictation, typing and using the Proclaim Case Management System to produce documents including letters, forms etc.
  • liaising directly with Clients and other professionals; making appointments and managing diaries and task lists
  • assisting with post, photocopying, scanning, filing and file management
  • undertaking administrative tasks including document sorting, paying disbursements and preparing instructions to Counsel and medical experts.


Previous Legal Secretary experience in a Clinical Negligence Department would be an advantage, but not a necessity for the right candidate.

We require a self-motivated, highly organised and enthusiastic individual who is able to work quickly and accurately often within tight timescales with minimal supervision.

You will need to be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (including basic excel) and be confident in creating, amending and formatting large complicated documents.  Knowledge of Case Management and Digital Dictation systems is essential.  Candidates must be able to demonstrate a professional manner with the ability to deal with a variety of enquiries and be confident in dealing with clients and professionals alike.
