Elder Abuse
Compensation Claims

Elder abuse and neglect affects some of the most vulnerable members of our society. Unfortunately, this can have a significant and noticeable impact on their physical and mental health. Sadly, some carers who are meant to be responsible for health and well-being of older people are inflicting abuse – either deliberately or by failing to provide appropriate and necessary levels of care.

Whilst the vast majority of care providers do deliver high levels of service, discovering that a loved one has been abused can be devastating, even more so when their well-being has been entrusted to a health professional.

As people approach the later years of their life, they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. Sadly, that’s not always the case – and elder abuse is a growing issue that society must address.

Whether the abuse has been suffered in their own home, a nursing home, hospital or care facility, we can help you take the necessary legal steps to ensure it’s exposed.

Even if you think your case could be complex or difficult to prove, we can help you seek justice and secure compensation.

Making an Elder Abuse Claim

We realise how traumatic and emotional it can be to report the abuse of an elder person, with the victims and their families often afraid to speak out.

When a care or nursing home is placed under scrutiny, they often appoint an experienced legal team to defend their position and discourage you from pursuing a claim. With McKeag & Co fighting your case, you’ll have access to expert legal guidance every step of the way.

We handle every case sensitively and will advise you whether to make a compensation claim on behalf of the abuse sufferer. This could be against either the individual abuser or the organisation responsible for creating the unsafe environment.

After discussing your experience and explaining what has happened to us, you can decide whether to take matters further – but you won’t be under any obligation to do so. If you choose not to take legal action, we will not charge you for our initial advice. If you want to proceed with your case, we can assist you on a ‘No win, No fee’ basis so that you won’t pay a penny, except an agreed percentage of any damages you receive if successful.

How much will my abuse claim cost?

All abuse cases taken on by us are handled on a no win no fee basis. This means that you will not have to pay any money up front and there will be no financial risk if your case is unsuccessful.

If your case is successful, you will only be expected to pay a contribution to your solicitor’s fees once the case has been resolved. The costs paid are usually a percentage of the compensation awarded and will be agreed before your case is carried out.

No Win, No Fee

With no win no fee, there aren’t any upfront charges or hidden costs. If you do win your case, we will charge you a ‘success fee’ as a percentage of the compensation you receive, this will then be capped at a maximum of 25% – and in many cases this is significantly less than this so you will receive the majority yourself. This fee will be agreed between you and your solicitor before we take on your case.

McKeag & Co have been established on Tyneside for over 100 years and during this time have been successful in obtaining millions of pounds compensation for people who have suffered abuse.
