Fatal Accident Claims

Claims involving the death of a loved one are undoubtedly upsetting and stressful. Whilst money can not replace the tragic loss of a loved one, here at McKeag & Co we aim to ease the financial burden and pressure which arise as a result.

Our Solicitors have a wide range of experience and whatever the circumstances of your claim, you can rest assured that it will be handled with the utmost discretion and sensitivity.

Claims for fatal accidents arise when a person has been killed as the result of the wrongdoing or negligence of another, this may be in a road traffic accident, an accident at work or any other circumstances in which the death could have reasonable been prevented.

The Law governing fatal accidents does not aim to punish those responsible, but aims to compensate dependants, beneficiaries and the estate of the deceased for the loss they suffered. Any criminal conviction or prosecution is designed to reprimand those responsible.

Rest assured however, the absence of a criminal conviction is not an automatic bar to claiming compensation.

Claims for compensation may be brought by the estate, dependants or beneficiaries within three years of the date of death or date of knowledge that the death was a result of the wrongdoing or negligence of another.
