MEDOMSLEY DETENTION CENTRE ABUSE CLAIMS
"OPERATION SEABROOK"
ALL CASES ACCEPTED ON A
'NO WIN, NO FEE' BASIS
McKeag & Co Solicitors have successfully secured compensation for a number of former inmates that were sexually, physically and mentally abused whilst detained in Medomsley Detention Centre between 1960’s and 1980’s.
MEDOMSLEY DETENTION CENTRE ABUSE COMPENSATION SCHEME EXTENSION – URGENT!

In the summer of 2021, lawyers acting for the Ministry of Justice notified McKeag & Co and a number of other firms of solicitors, who were acting on behalf of approximately 2000 former inmates of Medomsley Detention Centre, that the agreed tariff compensation scheme would have a cut-off date of 31st of December 2021. Any victims who came forward after that date would not be accepted on the scheme and their claims would be defended vigorously. The Ministry of Justice would argue strongly that these claims, some which went back over 50 years were barred under the statute of limitations.

McKeag & Co contacted their existing clients asking that they inform anyone they knew who had been in Medomsley Detention Centre, and who have not yet made a claim to come forward as a matter of urgency. Sadly a number of clients did come forward after the cut-off date but their cases were not accepted.

On the evening of Thursday, 7 July McKeag & Co, and other firms who are members of the Medomsley abuse steering group were contacted by the Government Legal Department, and were informed that in the interest of supporting victims of abuse the scheme would reopen to new claimants with a limitation amnesty in place – this means the government would not seek to argue that the claims were barred under the statute of limitations. This would be reviewed again in January 2023, and could at this time be closed to any further claimants.

McKeag & Co have already obtained hundreds of thousands of pounds for victims of abuse in Medomsley, and would strongly advise any former inmate who has not yet made a claim to contact Patrick Rafferty, senior partner of McKeag & Co, as a matter of urgency.

Please telephone our Gosforth office on (0191) 213 1010. Your case will be dealt with sympathetically by an expert team. All cases are run on a "no-win no fee" basis and you will receive 100% of your damages.
No Win, No Fee
With no win no fee, there aren’t any upfront charges or hidden costs. If you do win your case, we will charge you a ‘success fee’ as a percentage of the compensation you receive, this will then be capped at a maximum of 25% – and in many cases this is significantly less than this so you will receive the majority yourself. This fee will be agreed between you and your solicitor before we take on your case.
McKeag & Co have been established on Tyneside for over 100 years and during this time have been successful in obtaining millions of pounds compensation for people who have suffered abuse.
